After two years of construction, the new neighborhood mobility Hub in the VIERZIG549 urban quarter in Düsseldorf-Heerdt has been inaugurated in the special zone “Supply and Parking.” The publicly accessible parking facility was designed as an open, above-ground large garage with approximately 600 parking spaces and two ground floor retail spaces for local suppliers. Standing at a height of 21 meters and distinguished by its location and materiality, it serves as a prominent landmark visible from all sides within the quarter. To differentiate between its various functions, the ground floor façade features brickwork, while the parking garage façade above is composed of aluminum and expanded metal. The louver and expanded metal structure shapes the appearance and simultaneously provides necessary sound insulation and ventilation.
To minimize the impact of noise emissions and exhaust gases in the garage, we developed a dual-faced façade that allows for effective air circulation without requiring complex technology. A louver structure shields noise from the quarter, while the opposing expanded metal façade permits natural air circulation.
