Competition for Former Refractory Factory, Bonn-Duisdorf decided
2nd Prize. prasch buken partner architects bda
Key tasks in developing the neighborhood include creating a concept that fits both holistically across 3 construction phases and individually into the environment, generating high living quality despite railway noise, reducing sealing, and creating an inviting entrance area. The former refractory factory site with its heat island effect, low green space, and high sealing is to be transformed into a modern residential quarter with a forward-looking, climate-oriented, and community-promoting character.
In the jury protocol of the award session held on June 23, 2022, it is stated: “Due to consistently good floor plans, almost all apartments potentially offer the same high living quality. The placement of the daycare center in the western wing is cleverly solved. The open spaces are of high quality…”
A public exhibition of all designs will take place from August 15 to 25, 2022, in the Ratsfoyer (mezzanine) of the Bonner Stadthaus, Berliner Platz 2, 53111 Bonn. The exhibition opening is scheduled for Monday, August 15, 2022, at 3:00 pm. Additionally, a documentation brochure will be available for the competition.
